Meeting Overview

Dear VOS Colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to Williamsburg, Virginia, for the 2001 Virginia Orthopaedic Society Annual Meeting. In addition to the wonderful scenery, entertainment, and cultural opportunities afforded by Williamsburg, the meeting will consist of guest lectures and other presentations covering all aspects of orthopaedics.

The meeting will be held at the Williamsburg Marriott, May 19 _ 20, 2001. Dr. Ed Wilhelm will be our local host in Williamsburg, and Dr. Will Zuelzer will serve as chairman for the academic portion of the meeting.

Our guest speakers are renowned surgeons, Dr. Charles A. Rockwood, Jr. and Dr. Fred Corley, a prestigious hand surgeon, both from San Antonio. I, therefore, am anticipating a very high quality academic meeting, and your President, Chris Young, and I are enthusiastic that VOS 2001 will be very special indeed.

Besides the Saturday and Sunday Scientific Sessions, the 2001 meeting will also include:

  1. A symposium on Ambulatory Surgical Centers
  2. A panel discussion on the emerging "heat" technologies for shoulder, knee, and spine
  3. Award for the best Resident paper presented
  4. Chairman's award for the best technical presentation
  5. Full CME credits

Social activities are being planned and include golf at the Kingsmill Golf Course, a Saturday night dinner party, sponsored by Howmedica/Osteonics and a spouse/guest private tour of Colonial Williamsburg led by a historic personality, and a luncheon at The Trellis on Duke of Gloucester Street. A separate outing is being planned for children age 5 and up.

We encourage you to register early for the meeting. In addition, please reserve your room at the Williamsburg Marriott soon as they are subject to availability.
