On behalf of the program committee, we are excited to invite you to the Virginia Orthopaedic Society 74th Annual Meeting to be held virtually April 30 – May 1, 2021. The comfort of your own home will be a new and fantastic way to experience the Annual meeting while still connecting with colleagues near and far! Although we would all prefer to meet in person, you can be sure that the meeting’s agenda will not disappoint.
This year we are honored to have Dr. Kristy L. Weber as our keynote speaker. Dr. Weber is the Immediate Past President of AAOS, where she served as the Academy’s first female president. Currently, Dr. Weber is the Chief of Orthopaedic Oncology at Penn Medicine and the Director of the Sarcoma Program in Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center. Dr. Weber will be speaking on Future Directions and Female Surgeon Engagement in Orthopaedic Surgery.
Interaction with both our speakers and our industry partners will look different this year. We will be hosting a combination of live and pre-recorded lectures with opportunities for live Q&A with all speakers. We will continue our tradition of a poster session and we will have abstract podium presentations of 10 exciting research projects selected by our abstract committee. In addition, we will have plenty of opportunity to interact with our industry sponsors in a virtual space.
This year’s meeting will include topics in sports medicine, total joint replacement, and trauma. Other topics include billing and coding, multimodal pain management and regional anesthesia. We will end the meeting with a live, and lively, debate on the treatment of Clavicle Fractures: Operative or Nonoperative?
Of course our meeting would not be complete without the Annual Resident Quiz Bowl! Tune in for a friendly competition between residents representing the Naval Training Program in Portsmouth, the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
We hope you will plan to attend this year’s 74th Annual Meeting, held virtually, April 30 - May 1, 2021. We thank all the participants and sponsors in advance for their effort and support of this year's meeting. We have confidence that you will find the meeting to be as enjoyable and educational as you have in past years.
