On behalf of the program committee, Brandon and I want to welcome everybody to the 75th Annual Meeting of the Virginia Orthopaedic Society at the beautiful, historic Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. The Greenbrier is a National Historic Landmark that has been welcoming guests since 1778. With a guest list that includes 28 of our country’s 45 Presidents, America’s Resort has long been a favorite destination of royalty, celebrities and business leaders and will surely make a great backdrop for our annual meeting.
Attendees will have the pleasure of hearing from our two keynote speakers: Dr. Robin West and Dr. Kevin Bozic. Dr. Bozic is the 2nd Vice President of the AAOS and practices at the University of Texas-Austin Dell Medical School, where he also serves as the Executive Director of the Musculoskeletal Service Line. He will speak about the current and future directions of the AAOS as well as the changing landscape in Orthopaedics as it relates to Value-Based and bundled payments. Dr. West is an academic Orthopaedic Sports Medicine surgeon at the Inova Health System in Northern Virginia where she serves as the President of the Musculoskeletal Service Line. She is the Lead Team Physician for the Washington Nationals, former Head Team Physician for the Washington Football Team, and was previously named to ESPNW’s 2016 IMPACT25, the annual list of athletes and influencers who have made the greatest difference for women in sports. Dr. West will lecture on the past, present, and future of the Team Physician based on her experience of over 25 years on the sidelines.
The focus of the meeting will include various areas of interest applicable to Orthopaedic Surgeons across the Commonwealth of Virginia with an emphasis on outpatient Arthroplasty, fractures, and Sports Medicine. Additionally, we will continue our tradition of the Annual Resident Quiz Bowl which should provide for a spirited competition between residents representing our local academic programs.
We thank all the participants and sponsors in advance for their effort and support of this year's meeting. It is always our goal to bring state of the art education to the Virginia Orthopaedics community. Looking forward to a great meeting.
Sincerely,
