Educational Objectives

As a result of participation in this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Integrate current basic science, translational and clinical research in orthopedics into the delivery of evidence-based, cost-effective orthopaedic care.
  2. Improve upon prevention and management of geriatric hip fractures.
  3. Better understand the advantages, disadvantages and optimal method of soft tissue balancing in total knee arthroplasty.
  4. Learn which patients are at risk of arthroplasty complications, including prevention and management strategies.
  5. Educate themselves on treatment pathways for optimizing bone health and management osteoporosis.
  6. Navigate the medicolegal difficulties unique to the practicing orthopedic surgeon.
  7. Explore methods of infection prevention in orthopaedic surgery, in addition to exploring diagnosis and treatment algorithms with infectious disease colleagues.
  8. Understand the difficulties of adult medical education in the modern healthcare environment.
  9. Discuss practical and effective tips for managing orthopaedic trauma patients.
