The Value of Your VOS Membership

Are you aware of your member benefits? Do you realize the value of your member dues? You are probably a member of many different professional trade associations in the state and country and may have wondered if the funds you spend on member dues are really worth it.

Allow me to take a moment and highlight why your Virginia Society is so important for your profession – more than any other. Consider all the issues that affect your daily practice: COPN, the role of the physical therapist in musculoskeletal care, malpractice and insurance issues, the Fair Business Act, tort reform and reimbursement issues including assignment of benefits. While some of these issues may face physicians in other disciplines and other states – no other society protects these issues for you in the Commonwealth as strongly and exclusively as the Virginia Orthopaedic Society.

What else is your Society doing for you?

  • Providing funding to invite your local congressmen/senator to your next Board Meeting
  • Protecting your interests on the state legislative level
  • Helping promote your practice by providing the public with your name and practice URL linked from the VOS website
  • Representing you on the AAOS Board of Councilors
  • Advertising positions available in your practice at no charge
  • Providing an Annual CME program, at a reduced fee, where you can network with your peers
  • Sending one comprehensive bill for member dues

Want more from your Society? Become involved! Serve on the Board of Directors or on a committee. We always seek fresh new ideas and new faces. Or at the very least, send me your suggestions and ideas on how we can better serve you.

Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners May Now Join VOS!

In an effort to strengthen the relationship with Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners, the VOS Board has voted to include these professionals as VOS members. PA's and NP's may join VOS at half the regular member fee, but will have no voting rights. They must be sponsored by a VOS physician member.

If you currently work with a PA or NP and would like to sponsor them for membership, have them complete the membership application found on the VOS website, and send it to the VOS headquarters office.
