Annual Meeting Update

VOS Annual Meeting Chair
It is that time of year again to save the date for the 69th Annual Meeting of the Virginia Orthopaedic Society. The meeting will be held in Williamsburg, Virginia at the Williamsburg Lodge on April 15-17, 2016. We are busy putting together the finishing touches on the meeting and it promises to be a great one. Williamsburg is a gorgeous place to visit and explore in the spring, including Colonial Williamsburg, local wineries and breweries, Jamestown and exposure to history all around.
Dr. James Andrews has accepted our invitation as the Keynote Speaker and we are honored to have him take time off from his busy baseball spring training schedule to visit Virginia. His presence always provides for a stimulating and educational insight into the current state of orthopaedics. Furthermore, the planning committee is concentrating on making the focus of the meeting this year appeal to all orthopaedists in practice. Our primary focus this year is General Orthopaedics and Common Sports Medicine topics, including Perioperative Pain Management, ICD-10 Implementation and Pitfalls, Upper Extremity and Rotator Cuff Repair, General Pediatric Orthopaedic Management and Sideline Medicine.
Finally, we are expanding the opportunity for CME to physician assistants and primary care sports medicine physicians with concurrent lectures that include Orthopedic Ultrasound, Orthopaedic Radiographic and MRI/CT Imaging, Infection Management, Prosthetics and Bracing, Injection Techniques and Fracture Management.
Finally, there are a great deal of topics that the VOS has been working on, including ICD-10, COPN and Workers' Compensation Structure in the Commonwealth of Virginia. These topics will be all the buzz come Spring, and the VOS Annual Meeting provides an ideal forum to discuss, educate yourself, and potentially advocate for these critical concerns that affect orthopaedic practice in Virginia. The 2016 VOS Annual Meeting promises to be an orthopaedic cornucopia of knowledge, camaraderie and fun. Please save the date and plan on joining your colleagues in Colonial Williamsburg.
