Save the date for the VOS 70th Annual Meeting at the beautiful Boar's Head Inn in Charlottesville, Virginia. We are excited to announce the inaugural VOS Orthopaedic Resident Quiz Bowl at this year's Annual Meeting. Resident teams from Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the University of Virginia will show off their abundant fund of knowledge as they compete for the prestigious VOS Cup and the bragging rights that accompany it. We encourage alumni, staff, and fans of each respective program to support their teams. Friendly wagers are encouraged.
We have secured an exciting lineup of guest speakers including Drs. John Clohisy and Andy Burgess. One of the preeminent hip preservation surgeons in the world, Dr. Clohisy is the Director of the Center for Adolescent and Young Hip Disorders, as well as, the Chief of the Adult Reconstruction service at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Burgess is currently at the University of Texas, Houston and is known for his seminal work on pelvic injury classification and for forging collaborations between engineers and physicians to enhance automobile safety. The first annual Resident Quiz Bowl will be on Friday evening, along with the reception and poster presentation session. During the course of the meeting, scientific presentations, panel discussions, poster sessions and a PA/NP breakout session will provide educational opportunities for everyone. There are also plans for a career planning session for medical students interested in Orthopaedics. But don’t forget, the meeting is also about catching up with colleagues and friends from around the state. Boar's Head Inn is home to the the stunning Birdwood Golf Course, as well as outstanding tennis and squash facilities. There are many other attractions in the area including; the Blue Ridge mountains and Parkway, numerous wineries and breweries, and the University of Virginia. So make plans to join us and encourage your partners, PA/NP’s and residents and students to attend as well.
