A Novel Inflammation Targeting Tc-99m Probe for Osteoarthritis Imaging
Experiments will be performed with two rat osteoarthritis models to validate a novel probe, which consists of the radioisotope Tc-99m and a synthetic inflammation targeting peptide cFLFLF, for imaging inflammation in osteoarthritis. This agent is expected to be advantageous over current imaging modalities because of its high specificity and thus significantly improve the early diagnosis and treatment of osteoarthritis.
Inhibition of MSC1 Stem Cells and T-Cells to Endorse Bone Healing
Transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to repair bone defects sis an attractive concept. However, bone forming ability of MSCs is severely hampered if MSCs differentiate into MSC1 phenotype. T-Cells also inhibit bone formation induced by MSCs. We will investigate use of natural IgM antibodies to inhibit MSC1 stem cells and T-Cells to enhance bone forming ability of MSCs.
