VOS 66th Annual Meeting Co-Chair
The 66th Annual Virginia Orthopaedic Society Meeting is shaping up to be another exciting meeting! This year we are pleased to have Dr. Michael McKee, from the University of Toronto, who specializes in orthopaedic trauma and Dr. Scott Mair, from the University of Kentucky, who specializes in sports medicine/shoulder surgery as our Keynote Speakers. Since we had such a positive response from the debates that were held at last year’s meeting, we will have four more this year. Trauma debates will include Appropriate Timing for the Treatment of Open Fractures and ORIF vs. Arthroplasty for the Treatment of Proximal Humerus Fractures. Sports debates will include Transtibial vs. Medial Portal ACL Reconstruction and Single vs. Double Row Rotator Cuff Repair. We are also very pleased to announce that Dr. David Jevsevar, MD, from Intermountain Healthcare will be joining us to speak on how accountable care organizations and bundling payments will affect how we deliver care. In addition, we will have updates on office coding/billing, perioperative management and treatment of MRSA, the role of the orthopaedic surgeon in working up/managing osteoporosis, DMARD’s in orthopaedics, as well as how pregnancy affects our patients. Please mark your calendars now for the weekend of May 3-5, 2013, and join us at the beautiful Mandarin Oriental Hotel, located in the heart of Washington, DC.
This year's PA breakout session will focus on the upper extremity. Lectures will cover examination, treatment and trauma of the upper extremity. Two hours will be allotted for covering these topics with ample time for round table discussion with lecturers and attendees. We look forward to seeing as many PAs that are able to attend.
