On behalf of the Board of Directors and all the members of the Virginia Orthopaedic Society, we invite you to attend the 69th Annual Meeting at the Williamsburg Lodge in Colonial Williamsburg!  We have organized a meeting that should be educational, enlightening and enjoyable.

We are honored to have Dr. James Andrews, renowned sports medicine physician and founder of the prestigious Andrews Fellowship, as well as team physician for the 2016 National Championship Alabama Crimson Tide, serve as our Keynote Speaker.  In a symposium, he will explore and address the topic of injury prevention in young athletes and the evolution of care in a symposium and then address questions from the membership.

The focus of the meeting will be on current areas of interest applicable to surgeons across the state of Virginia in general practice. Specifically, we will present a session on rotator cuff rehabilitation with a panel debate including leading Virginia shoulder surgeons. Relevant topics of interest will be discussed, including the risks and benefits of regional anesthesia and multimodal pain control, general updates to common oncology, upper extremity, pediatric, and foot and ankle topics seen in most orthopaedic practices. Highlighting the second day of the meeting, will be a panel discussion on the anterior approach and revision total hip replacement, with Drs. Wilford Gibson, Anthony Carter and Joseph Moskal leading the debate.

To round out the educational session, we are introducing a physician assistant breakout session with the topics of bracing and splinting, evaluation of joint problems and ultrasound and injection techniques. Furthermore, we are continuing our tradition of presenting a series of current orthopaedic topics that are informative to the practicing surgeon. We are also including plenary and abstract presentations from across the state. Our goal is to present a diverse and educationally interesting curriculum that will be valuable to a wide range of orthopaedists.

Finally, please take advantage of the accommodations at the legendary Williamsburg Inn and Williamsburg Lodge in the heart of historic Colonial Williamsburg. There are a variety of activities of interest tothe young and old alike and families are sure to enjoy the experience. We hope to see you at the social functions on Friday and Saturday nights.
