Navy Medical Center Personnel Deployed to New York During COVID Response

Two members of the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Orthopaedic Surgery Department were deployed in the US Navy Covid Response to New York City.

CDR Kevin Pinkos, one of NMCP’s Arthroplasty Surgeons, and LCDR Shannon Lorimer, NMCP’s Orthopaedic Oncologist, deployed to NYC with the USNS Comfort as part of the Navy's response team. LCDR Lorimer provided orthopaedic care aboard the hospital ship. CDR Pinkos served as a medical liaison with various NYC hospitals, providing information to civilian medical staff on the Comfort's capabilities, as well as other available military assets deployed to the region.
