Virginia Election Update

Elections were held on November 3rd and in addition to the presidential race, all 11 Congressional seats and one Senate seat were on the ballot. Former Vice-President Joe Biden has been declared the winner, but President Donald Trump has yet to formally concede. Senator Mark Warner (D) was re-elected to the Senate, winning over 55% of the vote.

In two of the most contested Congressional races, incumbent Democratic Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger and Congresswoman Elaine Luria defeated their Republican challengers. Both represent districts that were formerly reliably Republican but have seen a shift in the electorate in recent years. Read below for the list of Congressional races. Both constitutional amendments passed. The first will establish a bipartisan redistricting commission and the second will allow for a property tax exemption for disabled veterans.

District 3:
Congressman Bobby Scott (D) re-elected

District 4:
Congressman Don McEachin (D) re-elected

District 5:
Bob Good (R) newly elected to the seat

District 6:
Congressman Ben Cline (R) re-elected

District 7:
Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger (D) re-elected

District 8:
Congressman Don Beyer (D) re-elected

District 9:
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R) re-elected

District 10:
Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D) re-elected

District 11:
Congressman Gerry Connelly (D) re-elected
