MSV Annual Meeting Recap

On Saturday, October 10th, the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV) held its annual meeting virtually. VOS Delegates included Drs. Seth Cheatham and Ilvy Cotterell, both from VCU.
We said goodbye to Dr. Clifford Deal from Richmond, Virginia, who has served admirably as our MSV president this past year. Dr. Arthur J. Vayer Jr. of Woodbridge, Virginia was installed as the new MSV president. He specializes in surgery with a focus on Colon & Rectal Surgery and has over 20 years of general surgery experience. He is affiliated with Sentara Surgery Specialists. His agenda for his presidency includes a focus on telehealth expansion, physician and PA mental health and wellness, and to uphold MSV’s overall goal to make Virginia the best place to practice medicine and receive care.
There was a limited number of resolutions at this year’s meeting with none of them directly impacting VOS. Most of the debate was centered on recommending an increase in reimbursement for virtual visits, to include phone calls. We all look forward to next year’s meeting which we hope will be held in person again at The Homestead.
MSV serves as the voice for more than 30,000 physicians, residents, medical students, PAs and PA students, representing all medical specialties in all regions of the Commonwealth. The association was founded in 1820 and is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. MSV strives to advance high-quality health care and make Virginia the best place to receive care and practice medicine.
